As NZME’s Mobile Applications Development Lead you will be responsible for leading the development of our mobile apps. You will ensure well-thought-out, scalable, maintainable, documented solutions to support our business. Whilst the roles’ primary purpose surrounds our mobile apps, you may also be required to develop front-end for the related websites, as well as Javascript back end. You will be expected to lead a small team and provide technical expertise and recommendations to them, fostering a culture of excellence and always thinking strategically in line with NZME’s goals and vision.ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in building, testing, and releasing robust, high-performance applications that are suitable for current requirements and with flexibility for future changes. Research and be aware of other technologies, frameworks, and hardware that could assist to achieve business goals. Ensure high quality through unit testing, standards, and other quality measures. Create appropriate documentation to facilitate future enhancement and support of software code. Ensure the application is secure and resilient to the effects of high traffic and malicious users. Assist with identifying performance issues related to the applications and implementing necessary changes Ensure development project planning is effective to achieve and hit deadlines and required timeframes Carry out routine software maintenance and support of digital applications and associated databases. ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: 5+ years development experience Demonstrated React Native Experience Up to date with Frontend technologies – e.g., ES6, React, Gulp, Webpack 3+ years Object-Oriented Analysis & Design Methodical problem diagnosis Good understanding of OWASP standards for secure application development A relevant Engineering, Information Technology or Computer Science degree Qualification in software development – specific to web or internet applicationsOTHER PREFERRED SKILLS: Python/PHP – backend knowledge MySQL MSSQL – experience Self-taught software development skills Software development accreditations Experience leading a small teamTHE PERKS: We’re an organisation proud of our culture, where you can bring your whole self to work and where we foster growth & development, succession & progression.
