    Education Infrastructure Service (EIS), a part of the Ministry of Education, manages the Crown’s second largest property portfolio of around 2,100 schools with a book value of $18.3 billion, the largest payroll in the country, and transportation of over 100,000 students to and from school each day.

    About the role

    Earlier this year we announced Te Rautaki Rawa Kura – the School Property Strategy, which shares our vision and direction for school property management. To help implement the strategy we have created a number of new positions to ensure that we have the right foundation and alignment of functions to support implementation of Te Rautaki Rawa Kura.

    You will report to the General Manager Asset Management and be responsible for the management of the Ministry’s portfolio of temporary accommodation buildings.

    As a new role, the initial key focus for this position will be will be to develop a solid understanding of the location, ownership, condition and use of the current temporary accommodation portfolio, identifying opportunities for improvement to how temporary accommodation is planned, utilised and managed. Based on this knowledge the role would then develop a forward work programme that compliments the redevelopment and roll growth work pipeline

    About you

    You will demonstrate a strong mix of skills and experience within a large and complex delivery organisation and have a track record of success and results in a management role that involved strategic and financial/operational management accountability and a high need for stakeholder engagement. Your relevant tertiary qualification or experience in a comparable role is essential.

    To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Proven experience with programme management within infrastructure/property management
  • Proven ability and experience of contributing to the development of asset management maturity
  • Experience in effective risk management strategies and processes
  • Proven critical thinking skills and analytical capability
  • Highly developed relationship management skills with a proven ability to consult and influence at all levels
  • The ability to understand and apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
