The Building System Assurance team is responsible for a range of building regulatory functions involving regulatory compliance, monitoring and assurance, and service delivery.  These functions include monitoring of Building Consent Authorities and Territorial Authorities, building products assurance, oversight of CodeMark as the building product certification scheme, and assessment of MultiProof applications.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Consumer Protection and Standards Branch, the National Manager is responsible for leading a team of people leaders including the wider Building System Assurance team to achieve its vision of becoming a world-class regulator.   You will be responsible for the delivery of significant existing and new building regulatory functions in a dynamic operating environment.  You will also be building a new leadership team and overseeing a time of significant change and transformation for the wider team.   

You will have extensive regulatory experience and be expected to operate within the wider building regulatory system, both within and external to MBIE. What’s important is your desire to shape and impact the core building regulatory system and while building sector experience is desirable, it is not essential.
