The role

Fire and Emergency New Zealand are seeking a National Manager People Experience. Reporting through to the DCE, People, this role will participate as a member of the newly established People Branch Leadership team and will contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the Branch. This includes contributing to the overall leadership of the Branch; participating in the development of Branch strategies, long and short-term priorities and working with peers to invest in the engagement, wellbeing and performance of Branch staff and teams.

The National Manager People Experience ensures people leaders and their teams receive the core people services and support they need to assist their decision making and performance. This role will have a particular focus on advice, systems and process and will lead teams responsible for the full employee lifecycle including: recruitment and induction, HR generalist advice, volunteerism, HRIS, remuneration, payroll, and safety, health and wellbeing support and services.

About you

We are seeking candidates who have the following:

  • Extensive experience within operational and strategic HR service delivery, leading across a broad range of HR disciplines
  • Senior-level experience working in a collaborative leadership environment
  • Senior-level experience in operationalising strategy to achieve intended business benefits in a large and complex organisation
  • A strong relationship focus
  • Experience in policy development, process review/design and continuous improvement methods
