The focus of the System Design and Delivery group is on designing and delivering an integrated transport system – one that reflects the plans and priorities of the Transport Agency and its partners.

The role

The purpose of the role is to work to ensure the highway network is managed effectively, including overseeing corridor management and maintenance. A key focus of this role is to ensure we are considering and managing the impact on our customers and understanding what they want – keeping the customer is at the heart of everything we do. This role also provides technical support to the Senior Network Manager, Contract Manager and Journey Manager.

Customer focus is a key component to this role – you’ll be working alongside other technical experts to help manage the state highway network, including maintenance, emergency works for local authorities and projects up to $1 million. You will be someone with a natural collaborative working style who looks to understand the needs of our customers, including how best we keep them informed of disruptions on our state highway network. You will bring your transport system background and may have experience as a transport planner or asset engineer. This is an opportunity to work with a range of stakeholders to ensure delivery, value for money and safety on our state highway network.

What you will bring

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Technical and practical experience in asset management, pavement design, maintenance and renewals practices knowledge and understanding of delivering best value solutions within a constrained budget
  • Experience with asset data management and analysis
  • Experience at dealing with complex and sensitive issues in a political environment
  • Experience at dealing with local and central government
  • Risk management experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • The ability to collaborate with others and demonstrate an ability to build strong relationships to deliver agreed outcomes
  • An understanding of forward works programmes and experience of balancing competing priorities within forward works programmes is desirable
  • Knowledge of the Transport Agency’s systems, process and manuals, and of the relevant legislation and technical standards is desirable

 

This role can be based from either our Palmerston North or New Plymouth offices.
