MidCentral District Health Board actively seeks Māori into our workforce to reflect the community we serve.MidCentral DHB is inviting applications for a Neurologist to join two others in its Neurology service at Palmerston North Hospital. The position is permanent full-time (1FTE) with no on-call duties outside office working hours. Applicants will preferably hold electrophysiology accreditation. Competences in performing needle EMG and/or reporting paediatric EEG will also constitute an advantage towards a successful application, but are not an absolute requirement. The Neurology service provides a high standard of specialist clinical practice and expertise. It contributes to the provision of efficient and effective neurology and neurophysiology services to the community and region served by MidCentral Health. Support is provided to primary health and community based care providers. The service is supported by a registrar and senior house officer, three neurophysiology technicians, one neurology nurse, and efficient secretarial and administration support. The department offers regular meetings with Neuroradiology and Neurosurgery, as well as teaching, research, and learning opportunities. It also features an active MS treatment centre including the most modern infusion therapies, regular Motor Neuron Disease MDT meetings, TIA clinic slots, epilepsy clinics including international Epinet trials and fast track clinics and an active Botulinum Toxin Clinic.This is an exciting time to join MidCentral District Health Board (MDHB) as it is embarking upon a transformational change programme to firmly establish itself as a high performing health system that meets the current and future demands of its communities, that provides improved patient experiences for service users, and that achieves improved patient and community health and wellbeing. Applicants must be eligible for vocational registration in Internal Medicine with the Medical Council of New Zealand with specialist training / qualification in Neurology, as well as having demonstrated clinical, management, and teaching skills and the ability to work effectively within the multi-disciplinary team.​
