New Zealand Search and Rescue (NZSAR) Secretariat supports the NZSAR Council to ensure New Zealand has effective Search and Rescue services for people in distress throughout New Zealand’s Search and Rescue region in order to save lives.
The NZSAR Council provides high level strategic governance and leadership to all search and rescue agencies in New Zealand.

The NZSAR Secretariat is hosted by the Ministry of Transport (MoT).
We are looking for a Senior Adviser Governance and Performance to join the team. This newly created role will lead the development and implementation of the SAR sector governance performance system to ensure its fit-for-purpose. This includes funding agreements, information exchange and processed, performance measures and impact assessment.
As part of a small team, but working collaboratively with a large and dispersed sector, you will have a wide array of responsibilities and significant opportunities to influence our partners. With multiple projects on the go at any one time, prioritising your time will be essential.
You will be able to work collaboratively with, and be able to influence a range of stakeholders. You’re comfortable with performance measurement and monitoring, and presenting to an audience.
