Are you looking for a role in which you can work with exciting technology and dedicated people while making a difference to the communities we live in? This could be the job for you.
Our Operations Advisers are part of 24/7 teams based at the Department of Corrections, National Office. Early next year we are opening a second location in Upper Hutt providing the possibility of working in either location. We assist frontline staff in the management of over 4000 electronically monitored offenders and defendants around NZ. Our tight-knit teams are busy, focused and committed to keeping the community safe. The environment is dynamic, fast paced, and energetic.
Any given shift in these teams will involve important responsibilities such as liaising with Police to coordinate a welfare check or the arrest of a high risk individual, assisting a Probation Officer in the management of their offender, or problem-solving over the phone with offenders or defendants who are facing difficult and stressful situations.
This is a demanding role – the phones can be exceptionally busy and no two days will be the same. People who are successful in this role will possess the following attributes:
Although a degree or experience in a relevant field would be beneficial, we value life experience, the ability to work the required shift patterns and a “can do attitude”. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick-start your career in the Department of Corrections.
You will be using modern GPS technology and software. While training will be provided for these platforms, you must also be competent with Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
You can expect to be challenged, but also to leave each shift with a sense of satisfaction that comes from making an important contribution towards managing the people in our care and keeping our community safe.
Operations Advisers in our teams work a mixture of morning (6am-2pm), afternoon (2pm-10pm), day (9am-5pm) and night (10pm-6am) shifts, which will change on a rotational basis Monday-Sunday including public holidays.
Remuneration range: $57,398 – 67,527 (starting rate within the range may be negotiable based on relevant experience).
Please note that for all shift pattern options above, approximately four weeks of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday will be required for initial training when the role begins.
Corrections embraces diversity and is committed to an inclusive workplace. We recognise and celebrate the uniqueness of individuals and celebrate the collective talent of all employees.
