Gateway to the North, this area covers the coastlines of Bream Bay, Whangarei Heads, and Tutukaka as well as Taranga and Marotere (the Hen and Chicks) and the Poor Knights offshore islands.
He angitūtanga: About the Role
As the Pou Matarautaki (Operations Manager) you will be responsible for leading the district’s Operations team to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality conservation outcomes. Based in Whangarei, this is an important hub for Te Papa Atawhai which comes with its own unique complexities and challenges. There is a strong relationship management component, including working alongside our iwi, hapu and whanau partners collaboratively and effectively, as well as community and local businesses.

An experienced people leader who is skilled at inspiring, motivating and directing teams to deliver quality work and results, work effectively with others, and to value continuous improvement. You will have experience and confidence in working with iwi, hapu and whanau partners to achieve mutual aspirations relating to conservation.
You will have an outgoing personality, the maturity and confidence to interact with people from all walks of life and the ability to switch between tasks effortlessly.
There can be times when the workload will be high so you will need to be able to remain calm and focused and work well under pressure.
