About the role

You will provide high level support to Managers to enable them to efficiently use their time and talents to achieve the Provincial Development Unit outcomes. We are looking for someone who enjoys contributing to the success of a team and will provide additional support across the unit as required. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, the successful candidates will display a high level of agility and adaptability to the changing needs of the team and the Unit.

You’ll always be two steps ahead, anticipating what is required and when, whilst ensuring that tasks are completed to a high level. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Sound relationship management skills
  • Wide ranging knowledge of administration systems and processes
  • Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively
  • The legal right to live and work in New Zealand


About the Unit

The PDU has been established to be the focal point within Government for regional economic development, and to design and implement the PGF.

Through the PGF central government has committed to investing $1billion per annum over 3 years in regional economic development with the aim of lifting productivity potential in the provinces. Its priorities are to enhance economic development opportunities, create sustainable jobs, enable Māori to reach their full potential, boost social inclusion and participation, build resilient communities, and help meet New Zealand’s climate change targets.
