Supporting the running of Dr Gaurav Sharma’s Electorate Office, you’ll make sure everything runs smoothly day in and day out. This role is best suited for someone who has worked previously in the community as a social worker or a support worker and will be able to provide high-quality administrative, constituent and liaison support with a parliamentary purpose to Dr Gaurav Sharma, MP (the MP) in his Out-of-Parliament office in Hamilton, to enable him to fulfil his responsibilities to Parliament and the public of New Zealand.

The role is focussed on providing support and advocacy to constituents relating to various issues in the Hamilton West electorate as well as wider ethnic communities, who seek assistance from the MP. This role is multifaceted and challenging with no two days the same. You’ll be stepping into an environment that is unique, exciting, and rewarding.

Some of the duties you’ll be responsible for include:

  • Providing high quality advice and advocacy to constituents in your community
  • Participating in constituent clinics and attending meetings and forums within the community
  • Building, developing and maintaining positive working relationships with local community groups and networks
  • Identifying issues in the community of potential concern to the MP and provide advice on resolution
  • Organising and attending meetings, functions and events
  • Ensuring the office runs smoothly
  • Managing and responding to correspondence and emails

This is an events based, fixed term role linked to the MP, working 25 hours per week. Some flexibility in hours may be required.

The appointing salary band for this role is $54,712 to $68,390 per annum. Appointments will be based on your skills and experience.
