This is not an ordinary role. We require people with energy, creativity and vision to break new ground and work to grow conservation in ways that achieve a win-win for business and nature.

The role sits within DOC’s Commercial Partnerships Team, which is a small team of distributed staff based across the country who broker conservation partnerships with business sectors and business leaders.


You will manage existing business partnerships, broker and negotiate new partnerships, and ensure that these are strong, deep and enduring.

Additionally you will build strong relationships to drive widespread conservation and restoration activity with the commercial sector.

The Commercial Partnerships Team is guided and united by the vision ‘Every business restores nature’.


Success in this position will come from understanding how conservation and business goals can be aligned. You will be a grounded and credible person who is a confident and effective communicator, with strong business acumen and able to influence at a senior level.

You will demonstrate an understanding, empathy and commitment in working with Tangata Whenua as DOC’s Treaty Partner.

Above all, you will be passionate about conservation growth in New Zealand.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
