This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced PMO leader to drive and influence our project delivery environment.  This exciting role sits inside INZ’s Project Office (PO) and is a crucial part of the Enablement group which is the business change engine in the heart of the Immigration NZ business.   

The PO team is responsible for the management and implementation of strategic projects across Immigration NZ. The PMO team is the conduit between innovative delivery and governance and reporting. Our PMO is the vital driving force behind the management and development of the standards which allow us to deliver such important programmes of work.

We truly believe that excellence in Project Management impacts culture, perceived value, engagement levels and staff attrition. The PMO Manager must enable, guide and influence the business to deliver on their project management mandate at levels recognised as Best in Class. From providing enablement and structure through to benefits realisation post implementation the PMO function has the ability and the opportunity to set the standard across the Immigration business.

With four direct reports the PMO Manager will work closely with the newly created capability leads and resource functions and will empower their team to support the business to deliver continuous improvements, benefits and efficiencies to all our customers.

 What we are looking for:

  • 8+ years of experience as a PMO, Portfolio and or Project professional
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a leadership role
  • Ability to quickly establish and build strong working relationships and develop trust and credibility with managers, staff, vendors and other stakeholders
  • A sound knowledge of assurance, benefits realisation and risk frameworks
  • Skills in leading and influencing to deliver a diverse range of complex projects
    • Experience in working as part of a team environment to achieve specific project outcomes
    • Ability to estimate project management capacity based on business strategies and objectives
    • Excellent understanding of business change management
    • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
    • Practical experience in making sense out of complexity
    • Experience to functional disciplines in the ‘corporate’ space; finance, management reporting, planning and budgeting

Key to the success of this role is the ability to build trust and rapport with the delivery function but at the same time managing the governance and reporting function to ensure visibility of the projects performance is maintained.
