New Zealand Police is seeking a Police Nurse for a two year fixed term to support our significant work programme to recruit 1800 new Police officers by 2021. We are looking for an experienced Nurse that can ensure the fitness and well-being of our people, particularly our new recruits.

RESPONSIBILITIES – as the successful candidate, you will support the delivery of our business objectives. Specifically, this will include:

  • Provides primary care nursing services located at the RNZPC Health Clinic
  • Assessing the ability of applicants through health, drug, and fitness checks 
  • Ensuring ongoing well-being of our people with regular check-ups
  • Providing advice and recommendations to applicants following the outcome of the check-ups
  • Liaising between the recruitment team and candidates in a timely manner
  • Keeping accurate medical reports and documentation
  • Administering vaccinations and providing occupational health services where applicable


EXPERIENCE – You will have:

  • Attention to detail in order to keep accurate and timely records
  • A high level of customer service and empathy for our people and potential recruits
  • An ability to build trust and positive working relationships with internal and external partners
  • A high degree of energy and passion for your work, with strong ethics and integrity



  • Be a Registered Comprehensive Nurse or General/Obstetrics and have, or willing to attain independent vaccinator status
  • Have a post graduate certificate OR a minimum of five years of contemporary knowledge and experience in general nursing, primary health care or occupational health
  • Have a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the Nursing Council of NZ with no restrictions



  • The successful applicants must reside in Wellington
  • The successful applicants will be required to undergo full reference and security checks prior to any offer of employment being made
  • The successful candidate will be expected to occasionally work outside normal working hours
  • Flexible employment opportunities (FEO) will be considered
