As the government’s chief policy adviser on transport, the Ministry has an important strategic leadership role. Key to this is thinking about the levers we have to deliver social, economic, environmental, health and safety outcomes for all New Zealanders.
The Demand Management and Revenue policy team is responsible for advising the government on why and how it should influence transport choices (how, when, and where people travel and freight is transported) and the funding and financing tools for land transport, including road user charges, fuel taxes, congestion pricing and tolling. The team currently has vacancies – one at adviser level and one at senior adviser level.
It’s a busy time at the Ministry, and with the Demand Management and Revenue team you’ll be joining a bunch of high-paced, motivated, professional and friendly people.
What you’ll bring
Tertiary qualified with policy experience at adviser/senior adviser level, you have initiative and build strong relationships. Your excellent written communication skills will ideally be complemented by a comfort with completing quantitative analysis. We welcome those with an understanding of economic frameworks.

The salary range for these roles is:
Senior Adviser: $91,000 to $129,000
Adviser: $65,000 to $107,000
