MPI’s Economic Intelligence Unit (EIU) investigates emerging trends in agricultural production and trade to understand what the changing world means for the future of our primary industries. We believe that effective decision-making requires access to the best information available. We are partnering and enabling New Zealand primary sector exporters, informing sector and government decision-making, and enabling conversations between producers, retailers, and distributors.

We need smart, curious, and enthusiastic analysts who are able to challenge conventional thinking and use their data and analytical skills to transform the way information is collected and shared, with a view to increasing resilience of our primary sector producers. This is an exciting position here at MPI, and offers the opportunity to really make an impact while carving out your own space.

Ko te tangata mo tēnei tūranga? – Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Tertiary qualified with a degree in economics, commerce or a similar field (e.g. math or research);
  • Great with people, who likes building relationships with people of all types of backgrounds and seniority;
  • Passionate about our primary industries and ideally has a background in agricultural economics
  • Confident and creative in terms of data visualisation and dissemination; and
  • A creative problem solver with a focus on process improvement.
