Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team
Our Policy Capability and Regulatory Stewardship team sits within the wider Skills and Regulatory Stewardship team, in Policy and Trade branch of MPI. The team:
Leads the development and delivery a work programme to build the capability and capacity of the primary sector workforce;
Assists MPI to ensure its regulatory processes are of sound quality and meets government requirements and expectations; and
Supports the development of policy advisors within MPI and improving the quality of policy advice.
Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the roles
We are currently looking for a policy analyst and a senior policy analyst to join our team, working primarily on building policy capability and maintaining and improving MPI’s regulatory systems. For the policy analyst role, we are looking for an entry level analyst who is looking to take their first leap into policy. The role will include helping plan and co-ordinate the Branch’s training programme, as well as the co-ordinating Policy and Trade’s Cabinet Paper Committee, where papers are given quality assurance. You will also be involved with helping co-ordinate MPI’s Annual Quality of Policy Advice review. You will have an eye for detail and be comfortable in talking with a wide range of internal stakeholders.
For the other role, we are looking for a senior analyst, or a policy analyst ready to step into a senior role. You may have experience in working in a regulatory environment, or be ready to expand your skills and help MPI develop its regulatory stewardship function. You will have the ability to write clearly and providing high quality advice. You will be collaborative in style and have the ability to build relationships both internally and within other government agencies.
