About this role At Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), we underpin New Zealand’s success with information about ‘where’ – ensuring New Zealand has accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights, now and for future generations.Our Crown Property group provides the leadership and direction for Crown-owned property across New Zealand, looking for opportunities to maximise these assets for the benefit of New Zealanders. Day-to-day we manage about two million hectares of Crown land, including surplus Crown assets, commercial and residential properties, pastoral leases and forestry licences.This role can be based in our Hamilton, Wellington or Christchurch offices.To further support our Crown Property group in the vital work we do, we are searching for experienced Portfolio Managers / Project Managers, to help us provide operational management and oversight across a nationwide portfolio of exciting, complex, and challenging projects. You’ll have the opportunity to see a tangible impact from the work you are doing. You’ll work alongside our high performing, passionate team and share opportunities to further your own knowledge and skills.Your work will assist in realising the future potential of Crown land, including through the removal of redundant structures, mitigation of hazards or managing improvements of built assets. The projects you will manage are sizeable and an excellent opportunity for you to improve and further develop on your existing experience. The project work includes initiatives across a nationwide portfolio on a variety of contaminated land remediation, demolitions of ex-hospitals, schools and prisons as well as build projects. Experience managing projects and contracts with suppliers including procurementAn understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, and 2016 asbestos regulationsAbility to translate complex technical matters into clear written and verbal advice.A working knowledge of administrative law, contract law, or other related disciplines.Financial management and administrative skills.Understanding of the context of working within the public sector.Some construction or demolition experience would be beneficial for your transition into the role, but not essentialRelevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.
