Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) makes sure New Zealand has accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights and Crown property is well managed for future generations.
Our responsibilities include managing land titles, geodetic and cadastral survey systems, topographic information, hydrographic information, managing Crown property and supporting government decision making around foreign ownership.
Our Information, Strategy and Delivery (IS&D) Business Unit supports LINZ with specialised services, advise, knowledge and technology – making sure the organisation runs smoothly and effectively. Our internal development teams operate in a multi-supplier environment with ITIL change and release processes in place. To ensure any changes and releases into the production environment are well understood and performed in a way that won’t impact the services we offer our external stakeholders and internal customers, we have established a new position for a Principal Operations Advisor, Change & Release.
Reporting to the Team Manager Service Management, the Principal Operations Advisor role will give you the opportunity to utilise your extensive experience in an ITIL change/release management environment, stakeholder engagement skills and excellent written communication skills. You’ll establish tight and robust change and release management policies that reflect the best practice frameworks for service delivery (ITIL and Cobit) and seamlessly translate the technical jargon aspects of the work into plain English that clearly communicates our expectations to both our suppliers and the wider LINZ business.
Working closely with our suppliers, our internal development squads and key LINZ business groups, you’ll build a strong understanding of all release requirements, manage expectations and manage the overall change process while creating a forward schedule of changes. With your self-sufficient and accountable approach to your work, you’ll easily develop comprehensive oversight of the work and will be well positioned to confidently set the overall release process based on business/devops requirements including release management support, release planning, release build, release deployment, early life support and release closure.
You’ll draw on your previous experience and strong technical skill to competently deal with unexpected challenges when required and create innovative solutions that both solve the problems at hand and safeguard against the same issues in the future. You’ll play an active role in the wider team’s problem management processes and will share your solutions across the ITIL practice team members in your change and release management reporting frameworks.
LINZ offers a stimulating work environment, engaged colleagues, and flexible work arrangements. We have a great culture and encourage personal development, training and study.
