  • Summary:

Our work is secret, but the reason for our success isn’t. It’s our people. And we’re just like you. We’re ordinary people. But together, we’re doing extraordinary things to protect New Zealand and New Zealanders.

While we’re ordinary people, we’re not all the same. We welcome diversity, in all its forms, in fact we consider it a strength.

Join us and become part of a Community where your skills, experiences and ideas are valued and you’re encouraged to be curious, to share your ideas and of course, have fun along the way.

If you’re up for the challenge, become Beyond Ordinary with us.

We have an opportunity for a skilled senior or principal policy advisor looking to work in a unique organisation. You will oversee and drive our policy work programme, as well as mentoring and guiding other policy staff.

You will be part of our small outgoing team that is making a tangible contribution to lifting the protective security capability of New Zealand organisations.

In this role you will advise on complex ideas in a clear and concise way to Ministers, senior managers, and governance boards. You will oversee, and contribute to, a policy programme that ensures the Protective Security Requirements remains New Zealand’s best practice.

You will have the following attributes:

  • A track record at developing policy at very senior levels
  • An aptitude for providing mentoring and coaching to policy staff
  • Capability to lead projects and manage a large number of tasks to achieve an overall outcome
  • Ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of audiences, including Ministers
  • Highly engaged, proactive and action-orientated to deliver successful outcomes
  • Ability to work well with a range of stakeholders

You may already have knowledge or experience working within the security sector but this is not a necessity, as your proven ability to think critically, analyse and advise effectively at senior levels will ensure you can transition to our subject matter.

We want our people to succeed, whatever success looks like for them. Join us and we’ll give you significant professional development opportunities aimed at taking your career in the direction you want it to go. You won’t stand still with us as we’re committed to ongoing learning and continuous improvement. We’re also committed to your wellbeing. We want our people to be the best they can be, both at work and at home. We offer our people comprehensive benefits, access to staff networking groups, flexible working and great work-life balance.

If you want to love coming to work each day, let us help you become Beyond Ordinary.
