The System Strategy and Policy directorate works closely with Ministers and Cabinet to provide high quality health advice to inform the decisions they make on behalf of the Government.
We’re looking for principal policy analysts with significant experience in public policy development. You will have been working in, or with, Government and can influence a wide range of stakeholders.
You will take the lead on significant work programmes working with the Policy Manager to set the strategic policy settings and direction. Your policy and machinery of government expertise and knowledge will be used to support and develop the capability of the wider Directorate. These are complex and challenging problems and finding solutions will take innovation, tenacity and drive. If you are passionate about improving heath outcomes for Māori then we would like to hear from you.
To be successful in this position, you’ll demonstrate an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, excellent communication skills, and an ability to lead and advise on complex policy projects, ideally across multiple agencies; and strong strategic, analytical and creative capabilities.
Coaching and mentoring policy staff will be part of this role, and you’ll maximise opportunities to share your experience with the teams. As an individual you’ll have a positive attitude and an ability to motivate others.
