This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside and support the Ministry’s leaders on work programmes that directly contribute to the improvement of outcomes and equity for, and the Crown’s relationship with, Māori.
The Principal Advisor Māori provides direction and advice across the Mental Health Specialist group and links with the wider Māori mental health deliverables across the directorate. This role is crucial to ensuring future decision making for work programmes focused on outcomes for Māori are well supported. You will have experience providing strategic advice and thought leadership, and knowledge of Māori health, Māori mental health and/or suicide prevention. Your relationship management skills will be strong, enabling you to collaborate with others across the Ministry, wider health sector and iwi to achieve outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will also have a sound understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi, have in-depth knowledge of Māori tikanga and be comfortable in Māori environments. If you’re looking for a role where you can make a significant difference for New Zealanders and have first hand experience living and being affected by mental health and/or addiction, this could be the ideal role for you.
