You’ll play a key role and be responsible for contributing to improving the overall capability and effectiveness of the NZDF commercial function, as well enabling the development and growth of your team.

  • Your role will arguably be one of the most challenging and exciting ICT procurement roles in Aotearoa;
  • You will work on a wide variety of fascinating and varied procurement projects; different to any other Government Agency;
  • You will be joining an effective team with freedom and flexibility.
  • Maintain a balance between your personal and working life and be inspired to go the extra mile to help NZDF succeed!

    What we need

    We’re looking for an outstanding leader with a proven track record as a strategic procurement professional, who can deliver the required outputs and lead, motivate and develop teams. You’ll be setting clear strategic direction and engaging successfully with customers and key stakeholders.

    Our top priority for this position is to recruit someone who is passionate and knowledgeable with demonstrable skills in strategic procurement, people leadership and exceptional customer delivery. You’ll be agile, innovative, excited by challenges, decisive and have strong values, ethics and integrity. You’ll have experience in dealing well with pressure, remaining calm and being empathetic.

    You’ll have demonstrated commercial acumen as well as the ability to think strategically, a sound understanding and experience of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle process, the Government Procurement Rules and best practice strategic procurement behaviour, particularly within the property, construction and infrastructure environment. Preferably you’ll also have experience working within the public sector, although this is not essential.

    As a leader who enjoys and excels at communicating, you’ll be prepared to put the needs of the customer at the centre of everything you do, whilst aligning your and your team’s deliverables to the NZDF Strategic Plan.

    Your refined communication skills include being able to engage with and influence a wide range of stakeholders with ease, and your written work will be of a high standard. You’ll be a skilled negotiator who knows when to push back, offering alternatives and information around the ‘why’, whilst still retaining customers’ engagement and buy-in.

    If you tick the above boxes, come with solutions and ideas, have a holistic approach where you’re focussed on project outcomes, able to anticipate implications and build and maintain excellent working relationships with ease, then this could be your next challenge and we want to meet you.
