The team:

Within our newly created Enterprise Products and Systems (EPS) team you will work in Platforms Technology Tower which delivers core compute platform services that are the foundation of the Defence Information Environment (DIE).

Platforms team has overarching accountability for all compute products, within the Platform domain, including the sourcing of IT products and systems as required. These include Database Platform, Compute and Storage (Public and Private, cutting edge computing) Platforms, ERP Platform, Middleware Platform,  Internet of Things Platform, Non-Production Platform, Website & Container Hosting Platform and Geospatial Platform.

The positions available in Platform area are:

  • Database Platforms
  • Integration and Middleware
  • Tenancy
  • Website and Container Hosting
  • Geospatial
  • ERP Platform

The role:

As a Product Owner, you will act as the voice of the customer. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement as well as a strong understanding of your domain – providing direction and leadership to the product team. You will also work with your fellow product owners and product managers across domains to ensure product development is aligned to NZDF strategy and vision to ensure that mutually beneficial goals are achieved.

Technical skills:

Based on the domains, experience in, or knowledge of:

  • Database Platforms – Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft based SQL Datawarehouse, Oracle DB;
  • Integration and Middleware – API management, Microsoft based, SOA;
  • Tenancy – Microsoft EA,  Microsoft based, DevOps;
  • Website and Container Hosting – Microsoft based, Webservices;
  • Geospatial – ArGIS, AWS;
  • ERP Platform –  SAP or similar ERP.

Additional skills:

Experience in, or knowledge of:

  • Presentation skills;
  • Identifying opportunities for business process improvement;
  • Capacity management;
  • IT change management (ITIL);
  • Commercial management;
  • Strong team leadership and development skills;
  • Understanding of the Portfolio and Programme business planning processes and how this relates to roadmap development and delivery.
