We are excited to be seeking an exceptional person to become the next Programme Director for GWN. This role offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference to women’s lives across the public sector. The position is based in Wellington and offers access to flexible working for the successful applicant. This is a permanent position however we are willing to consider applicants who wish to discuss alternative arrangements such as a secondment of fixed term arrangement for 2 years.

The Government Women’s Network (GWN) connects people across New Zealand to achieve a step change that will see women in government achieving their potential.

GWN is a network designed by women, for women, reaching across government and all around New Zealand. The network aims to achieve system level change to create a step change – a wide, deep and sustainable shift right through the NZ public sector.

The Programme Director – GWN will bring their energy and drive to assist the network’s Steering Committee to make GWN’s vision a reality by leading the implementation and delivery of the network’s programme of work. The position is hosted by Inland Revenue (IR) and reports through to the IR Chief People Officer and the GWN Steering committee through a designated representative.

The successful candidate for this role will be able to show:

  • A connection with GWN’s purpose and what we are aiming to achieve.
  • Proven leadership experience across broad geographic locations
  • Experience establishing and leading work programmes – from strategy through to implementation.
  • The ability to work unsupervised and demonstrate a high level of ownership and initiative.
  • Collaboration & coordination skills to bring key groups together and achieve collective impact.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and with impact across diverse audiences so that our brand and messages are clear.
  • Co-ordination & event management expertise, with knowledge of how to use social media successfully to support this.
  • A successful track record building relationships to achieve shared goals
