About the role

The Animal Health and Exports Group is looking for an experienced and capable Programme Manager to prioritise and manage the delivery of the Livestock Exports By Sea Improvement Programme, working across the Animal Exports Team and the Animal Welfare group, as well as engage with other business units within MPI.

Live animal exports is a dynamic area undergoing significant change which will generate a substantial work programme following two significant reviews which the Programme Manager will scope, develop and operationalise.

The Programme Manager will  work closely with the Group Manager and the Animal Health & Welfare Leadership Team to develop and coordinate an ongoing work programme.

We are looking for an experienced and capable Programme Manager to help prioritise and manage the delivery of this work between the Animal Exports Team, the Animal Welfare group, other parts of MPI, and exporters within New Zealand and Australia.  You’ll need excellent project skills, be very comfortable working in a fluid high pressure environment, able to operationalise and implement solutions quickly, work across teams and engage with others to achieve results, and fully utilise your Animal Welfare experience and knowledge.

Situated in a growing farmer-facing Agriculture and Investment Services Business Unit within MPI, it is undergoing a period of significant growth.

This role is in salary band C with an indicative salary range of $109,626 – $128,972 depending on skill set and experience.
