The Ministry of Health is the lead Public Health agency on the national COVID-19 response and has established the COVID-19 Health System Response Directorate to provide oversight of all activities contributing to the Ministry’s COVID-19 response.
The functions within the Directorate work in close collaboration with each other, across the Ministry and the wider All of government response.
The Testing Operations team implements the COVID-19 testing strategy through the management of the testing work programme across border and community settings, provides updated operational policies and assistance that will provide guidance to those who need to deploy testing (e.g DHBs), monitor and record testing data.
Te whainga poto o tēnei tūranga – What is the purpose of this position?
The role of Programme Manager is a new role that is responsible for providing advice to support to the Testing Operations Manager, by maintaining and improving the delivery of the COVID-19 Testing Strategy workstream ensuring ahigh quality work programme. Working in this collaborative environment you will lead a variety of priority projects, this includes development through to implementation.

You will be the glue that keeps everything operating together, from effectively communicating with stakeholders, mitigating risk to negotiating contracts. You will be a great leader, someone who is engaging of others and really empowers team members to grow their own capability for the project and their future. You’ll aso be able to demonstrate success in managing large complex programmes of work and bring with you a history of procurement and contract management in government.
