We are building our newly formed Organisational Strategy, EPMO and Performance team. The team is a part of Corporate Services, which has a kaitiaki role across the Ministry – protecting and looking after our organisation so we have great people, processes and technology. 


This is a great opportunity for an experienced project or programme manager to shape the project and programme management capability of the Ministry. If you are looking to step back from doing the doing and would like to take a strategic overview of this important work then this will be the perfect role for you. 


The EPMO leads our project and programme management and delivery frameworks and champions best practice across the Ministry. As a Programme Manager, you will provide expert and pragmatic advice on project and programme management structures and approaches across various levels of the business. You will provide training, advice and guidance to project and programme leads, and ensure our frameworks are relevant, accessible, and aligned with other business processes. You will provide strategic advice on the Ministry’s portfolio investment and prioritisation, and provide assurance and performance reporting on its delivery.  


To be successful in this position you will demonstrate strong relationship and stakeholder management skills, you must have excellent communication skills including the ability translate complex technical jargon to plain language and provide this to a range of audiences using a variety of communication techniques. You will have the ability to advise and influence across all levels of the Ministry along with being able to show initiative and think on your feet whilst having excellent organisational skills. A project management qualification is desirable.
