This is a great opportunity to lead a work programme that will help to lift Health system performance.

The Mental Health & Addiction directorate of the Ministry of Health works to ensure mental health and addiction services are strong, sustainable and safe for all New Zealanders.  Our focus is on delivering on He Ara Oranga – The Inquiry response priority programmes.

The role of Programme Manager Primary & Community Wellbeing is a new role that will be tasked with leading and managing the programme and work within the group.  This includes programme definition, implementation planning, project management, reporting and evaluation.

The programme of work includes the implementation of the Wellbeing Budget 2019 initiatives to improve access to and choice of Primary & Community mental health and addiction services, along with a broader work programme associated with improving the mental health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

The Programme has a range of workstreams, with contributions from across a range of teams.  You will be responsible for maintaining oversight of the various components, driving progress against agreed milestones, and reporting to key stakeholders.  In addition, you will be an active ‘do-er’, taking on an implementation role for some aspects of the programme.  You will bring a methodical project management approach to the programme, and ensure effective project planning tools and methods are adopted and high quality results are achieved.

To be successful, you will have a strategic lens as well as the ability to lead tactical implementation.  Combined, this will support the Ministry to deliver the strategy and corresponding strategic priorities of the Primary & Community Programme.  Your ability to build collaborative relationships across a range of teams, as well as with executives and other stakeholders is paramount to ensure deliverables are achieved.  You will be well versed at delivering strategic projects to budget and on time, project governance, and a variety of project methodologies.

The Ministry of Health is the kaitiaki of the health and disability system in New Zealand.  We are responsible for providing active stewardship and leadership across the nations health and disability system.  We ensure the system provides people with the highest levels of care, regardless of who they are or where they live.
