Forestry ETS Transformation Programme

The Forestry ETS Transformation Programme is a transformational business project that supports Te Uru Rākau’s Climate Change Operations (CCO) team to manage both registered participants and registered land in support of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS). 

About the Role │Kōrero mō te tūranga

The way we work with forestry participants in the emissions trading scheme and the technology we use are about to go through some fundamental changes; we are looking for a talented and experienced Programme Coordinator to join our team.  You will provide project support and be the ‘go-to’ person for the delivery of this major project.

The core responsibilities for the role:

  • Keeping the basics solid – so plenty of scheduling, planning, reporting, managing risks and issues and support with month end financials.
  • Leading on components of project work streams as agreed with the Project Director.
  • Administering the distribution of developed communications collateral for internal and external audiences including Ministers, Our Treaty Partner and other key stakeholders.
  • An  ability to keep a detailed history of the interactions between staff and participants and a history of land, including its geospatial history as it is registered, sold, part sold and harvested.

About You │Mōu

This is an exciting and vital project that has major implications for New Zealand’s commitment to our international Emissions Agreement and response to Climate Change. We need a motivated programme coordination professional  to help us deliver this project.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Previous experience working as a programme/project co-ordinator, it would be ideal if these initiatives have had an IT component.
  • Sound knowledge of project methodologies both waterfall and agile.
  • Previous experience working in change environments and have the ability to adapt in changing circumstances.
  • Excellent relationship building skills to deal effectively with a range of administrative and operational matters.
  • Confident presenter and comfortable working with groups of all sizes.
  • Prince2 or PMP certification – Preferred
  • Intermediate or above skills with Microsoft Project, Excel, Visio and/or Powerpoint.

Along with the above skillset you will be a motivated self-starter with the ability to facilitate and maintain strong productive relationships with stakeholders.  You will also be able to evidence your ability to work with people to find solutions to complex issues and to deliver the best outcome across multiple work streams.

Te Uru Rākau is a branded business unit within the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) and is leading the Government’s renewed focus on forestry. Comprising teams with diverse responsibilities spanning operational delivery through to strategic policy development we provide the focus and direction needed to strengthen and grow the forestry sector in New Zealand.

The salary for this role is upto $77,778
