The Ministry of Social Development is all about helping New Zealanders to help themselves to be safe, strong and independent, and in turn building strong, healthy families and communities. MSD is the lead agency for the social sector.


The Safe, Strong Families and Communities (SSFC) team sits within the Māori, Communities and Partnerships Group at MSD. The current focus of the SSFC team is MSD’s response to Sexual Violence, Family Violence and Building Financial Capability across New Zealand.


We are looking for an experienced, energetic Project Coordinator to the Safe, Strong Families and Communities programme of work. This role works closely with project and business managers to deliver outcomes by providing a mix of operational support as well as building internal and external relationships. 


As an experienced Project Coordinator, you’ll deliver high quality project and administration support services, including project planning and scheduling for a range of project and programmes. Your high-calibre communication and administration skills will be vital to the success and achievements of multiple project activities.

Ideally you will bring;


  • Strong administration experience
  • Experience in the use of PRINCE2 as a project management methodology
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft software, EXCEL, Visio and MS Project
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills
  • Flexible, adaptable and pragmatic attitude
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Strong partnership builder
  • Highly effective communication skills
  • Sound judgement, professionalism, and integrity
  • Ability to perform under pressure
