We are grappling with some big issues; from managing the increasing number of visitors to our beautiful places to protecting NZ’s unique biodiversity while making sure people can connect to our natural and cultural heritage. We want to protect our stunning landscapes while providing opportunity for NZ’s economic and regional development.
The Policy Unit advises Ministers on the full range of issues the Department faces, looking at the next big challenges. The Marine Policy Team progresses exciting programmes to protect our oceans, including marine protected area reform, responding to the Hauraki Gulf Sea Change Plan, and advising on marine protection proposals and reviews.
We are looking for a bright and ambitious project coordinator with a proven ability to plan and organise, to progress the department’s work on the government’s response to the Hauraki Gulf Sea Change Plan. You will use initiative and independent judgement to deal with critical tasks. Knowledge of conservation-specific issues is not a prerequisite.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
