Te Aho o Te Kahu is seeking an energetic and committed individual with a passion for improving cancer outcomes for vulnerable populations, in particular for Māori and Pacific peoples.

 

Te Aho o Te Kahu was established in December 2019 to provide national leadership and oversight for cancer control as well as system-wide prioritisation and coordination of cancer care in Aotearoa.  Alongside a national team based in Wellington there are four regional hubs within the Agency.  The hubs have a critical role in linking the unique perspectives and diverse needs of regional communities to the development of national priorities and work programmes. Hubs also form the operational arm of the Agency, supporting implementation and monitoring of national plans within the local context.  As the Project Manager, Equity you will be based in the Central Region Hub in Palmerston North, working with the population’s resident in the Taranaki, Whanganui, MidCentral, Hawkes Bay, Wairarapa, Hutt Valley and Capital and Coast districts. The role will involve travel to these locations.

 

You will have a history of planning and delivering on projects which have directly led to improvements for Māori or Pacific communities. You will be an effective communicator, have widespread networks across the rohe and be able to build strategic relationships and influence others whilst working collaboratively with a wide range of partners and stakeholders.

 

This role will suit someone who strives for results, is passionate about continuous improvement, and has a sound working knowledge of applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.  The role also provides an opportunity for individuals to further grow and develop skills in a newly formed team.  In addition, you will need to demonstrate:

 

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and manage cross-functional teams
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain language to influence and build trusted relationships with a range of key internal and external stakeholders, at all levels
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of large and complex systems with previous healthcare experience of benefit
  • Demonstrated community networks and expertise in working with and for Māori, or Pacific communities
  • Understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
