Psychologist, four positions (full-time, fixed-term until June 30 2021) Christchurch, Canterbury
Clinical Services Oranga Tamariki invites applications from Registered Psychologists for four fixed-term full-time positions at the Canterbury Regional Office; but with potential to be based at Oranga Tamariki sites across Canterbury, including South Canterbury. Applicants must be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
Clinical Services is an internal service of Oranga Tamariki with small teams of Psychologists and Therapists who provide psychological and therapeutic assessments and specialist interventions to tamariki and whanau who have experienced abuse and neglect. Oranga Tamariki are re-establishing an internal service of clinicians in Canterbury and are keen for applicants who are keen to be part of establishing a service to support frontline Social Workers and their clients. Successful applicants will report to the Psychologist Team Leader.
Experience working with children in a care and protection environment, specifically providing assessment and therapy with children and their families/caregivers, and assessments of parenting capacity will be an advantage. Responsibilities will include working with Maori and Pacifica clients, providing professional consultation to Social Workers, and liaising with community providers.
The diversity in this role provides the flexibility in the use of evidence-based therapy models and intervention tools to achieve positive outcomes for tamariki and their whanau. Further, successful applicants will likely gain exposure to comprehensive parenting assessment work which can be preparatory for Family Court and other complex work.
