Psychologist – Palmerston North, Whanganui or New Plymouth

Here in Palmerston North our incredible well-established, and supportive team are looking to build on existing talent.

Alongside a talented team of Clinical Psychologists who are extremely passionate about their work, you will be working with high and complex needs clients for assessment and to provide therapy.

This team works in two men’s prisons and eight Community Corrections sites (working with both men and women) throughout the districts. Team members receive excellent clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.  We engage in a wide range and variety of work with career advancement opportunities both within Psychological Services and the wider organisation.

We have strong links to the local University which provides opportunities to supervise students in the clinical psychology training programme.

Palmerston North is in the middle of the North Island – if you are planning to relocate from overseas or another area in New Zealand, this is a perfect location from which to explore our beautiful country. With it’s family-oriented reputation, affordable properties, and the ability to get to work in 5-10 minutes with free parking only a couple of minutes away, this would be an easy move if you are wanting a relaxed, stress-free lifestyle.

With this in mind, we are flexible on location. If you are keen on joining this team, you could choose to be based in either Palmerston North, Whanganui or New Plymouth. All of these areas are known for family life and (mostly) sunny weather.

This professional role calls for someone who:

  • Has a minimum of a Masters degree in Psychology (Clinical or Forensic Psychology) and registration with the NZ Psychologist Board in the clinical or general scope of practice
  • Is an excellent problem solver who can work across cultures

In return we can offer you:

  • A supportive and vibrant team culture
  • Strong connections to the local University
  • A competitive salary and structured advancement opportunities
  • Commitment to professional development and clinical supervision
  • World class criminal justice psychology training and mentoring

We are open to receiving interest from any part of the world as long as your qualifications are able to be registered with the New Zealand Psychologists’ Board.
