What you will do

Technical and administrative publications are vital tools that enable Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) personnel to carry out their day-to-day work.  As a self-starter you will be required to prepare, proof and edit print masters from draft text, illustrations and photographs into electronic, web and/or hard copy form and arrange placement in online, electronic and/or hardcopy manuals in line with current publication standards and procedures, and airworthiness work practices.

What we need

You will need to possess great written and oral communication skills, and the ability to follow detailed technical instructions.  You will also need to be comfortable editing publications using quality assurance agreements, internal standards and procedures, and meeting deadlines.  You will be required to work both autonomously and closely within a team and have strong customer focus.

A high degree of computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office and Adobe suite of publishing and graphics applications is necessary. Familiarity with QuickSilver and Adobe FrameMaker would be an advantage.
Who we are

The Publications, Information and Drawing Support (PIDS) team are responsible for for providing policy and advice on RNZAF Logistics publications and engineering drawings, and for maintaining an internal publications and engineering drawing online facility. PIDS is also responsible for supporting the Ohakea and Auckland Aeronautical Documentation Centres (ADCs), providing an internal publication distribution, control and amendment service for NZDF, Air Staff and RNZAF units overseas, providing a research and supply service for technical specifications, standards and associated data, as well as providing a documentation and book scanning facility.

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
