  • The Central Otago District is seeking a highly motivated and suitably qualified individual to take up this busy and interesting permanent position.
  • The preferred location for this position is Alexandra. We will consider locating the role in Wanaka for the right applicant, although travel to Alexandra will be required at times. 


If you are well organised, have a good appreciation and understanding of environmental resource management, and work well both independently and as part of a team, then we are keen to hear from you.


He angitūtanga: About the Role

In this role you will:

  • Process permit and concession applications and monitor commercial or private activity on public conservation land, including providing high quality input on Resource Management Act planning processes, coordinating the Department’s input into resource consent applications and consent monitoring where these affect natural, historic and/or recreation resources
  • Provide field support for statutory land management functions
  • Provide administrative, liaison and advocacy support to projects that seek to achieve conservation outcomes through  involvement of iwi, business and the wider community.

The successful applicant will have excellent written and oral communication skills and possess the ability to effectively prioritise commitments to meet deadlines. Experience in Resource Management or natural heritage management is preferred. A general understanding of ecological principles and processes is preferred.
