Is your background in conservation, working with flora and fauna?
Working in remote locations on Huts or tracks?

If so, the Central Otago District is looking for you.

Based in Makarora, this is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to become part of a committed and professional team achieving conservation outcomes across Central Otago.


He kōrero mōu: What we are looking for

  • Experience in carpentry and facilities maintenance desirable
  • Has experience and/or qualifications in working with chainsaws, Quad motorbikes, 4WD vehicles and a current First Aid certificate
  • Experience in monitoring and handling species desirable
  • Has a knowledge of field delivery work
  • A full New Zealand Drivers License
  • Experience with computer systems
  • Excellent relationship and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience working collaboratively with others to deliver and achieve conservation outcomes
  • A full drivers licence

This role has been identified as a Children’s Worker role under the Children’s Act 2014. A successful appointment to this role will be subject to police vetting.


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
