Are you someone who thrives in an outdoor role? Do you love the sea with native bush down to the water’s edge? Do you have lots of practical skills and enjoy working with people from all walks of life? If yes, then we want to hear from you.

We have a vacancy in our Operations team based in Waitohi / Picton. We need an individual who is a proven effective team player, who has a strong technical skill base, holds health and safety in the highest regard, is great at communication and has a passion for looking after tracks and campsites and ensuring our visitors are kept safe while visiting this special part of the country. The job involves cleaning toilets; mowing grass; skippering various vessels; chainsaw use clearing trees and windfalls, cutting tracks using scrub bars; maintaining and servicing campsites and backcountry huts, supervising our superstar volunteers… and much more. 


A bit about you

You will have a positivepersonality and enjoy working within a close-knit team.  You will have practical field skills and be fit and strong enough to undertake a physical job in varied terrain.  You will be confident interacting with people from all walks of life and have the ability to switch between tasks effortlessly. 

Key Skills

  • A love of the outdoors and a strong practical approach to problems
  • Completed a Day Skippers, Boatmasters course, or hold a Maritime NZ license
  • Experience in the use and maintenance of power equipment, specifically chainsaws, scrub bars, workshop equipment
  • Be self-motivated, and operate well alone and in a team environment
  • Demonstrate leadership within a team
  • Strong health and safety focus
  • A current NZ full driver’s license and first aid certificate
  • Ability and willingness to stay away from home in the backcountry when required


Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
