We have a short-term opportunity for a strategic future thinker to join our regional leadership team as Regional Commissioner Advisor. Based in Palmerston North, with coverage for Central Region you will provide support and advisory services across a broad range of areas to the Regional Commissioner, leadership team and wider public service to enable delivery on MSD’s strategic and operational priorities for Central Region
The Ministry has a diverse portfolio of work and stakeholder groups. This role is the interface where you maintain and enhance relationships with key stakeholders, align and deliver on cross-sector work programmes and initiatives, and ensure risks, trends and opportunities are identified, while staying ahead of economic and social imperatives and trends relative to regional development, labour markets and local government.
You have strong analytical skills and a knack for identifying trends and opportunities. You thrive in a fast-moving agile environment and can gather information under pressure to provide sound, evidence-based advice. High levels of tenacity and resilience enable you to work through political, economic and social issues with ease. Equally you can deliver operational outputs and juggle competing demands. No two days are the same, so you need to be comfortable navigating constant change with a risk management and continuous improvement lens.
You are a self-starter, a confident communicator, situationally aware, proactive and responsive with the ability to quickly identify potential risks and issues, apply discretion to make quality judgements and adapt as the situation requires, and be expert in preparing project documentation and proposals.
