Is it time for a new journey? A change of scenery? Change in lifestyle? From picture-perfect natural backdrops, to adventure opportunities right on the doorstep, here in New Zealand, that dream work-life balance is our reality, and right now, you have the chance to make it yours.

About the opportunity

At Southern DHB, we’re looking for motivated, passionate midwives who are ready to make an exciting leap.

You’ll be pleased to find we do things a little differently down here. As you well know, midwifery is a hugely essential role in women’s healthcare, and the NZ system is built with that in mind. That’s why you’ll have the freedom and autonomy to work in a setting that suits your preferred style of care – either at a primary maternity unit, or a secondary or tertiary unit within a hospital, where the levels of care required are more complex and continuous. Whatever setting you choose, you’ll provide valuable prenatal, delivery and postnatal care – helping women at each stage of their journey.

Each year we birth around 1,800 babies and work closely with the midwifery and medical schools to give the kind of care our patients deserve.

Plus, with roles available across both Dunedin and Invercargill, we’re offering the unique opportunity to experience working in multiple regions – the chance to find your perfect fit.

About the role – what’s in it for me?

Within the Core Midwifery environment no two days will be the same and you’ll be involved in the full scope of midwifery practice during your time here. We have a women-centered approach to our care and you will be making a real difference to the patient experience. This core midwife role would suit a Midwife who is team-focused and who enjoys getting involved in a variety of tasks to ensure the very best care is provided at all times.

About you

We’re looking for enthusiastic midwives who love what they do and are always seeking new opportunities to learn or impart their knowledge to help others thrive. You’ll be a conscientious carer ready for your next opportunity to shine – perhaps somewhere that’s a better match for the slice of life you’re after. You might choose to embrace the little big city of Dunedin, where you’re never far from the great outdoors, but can still enjoy a bit of the bustle, and a vibrant cultural scene. Or take the family further south to Invercargill, where you’ll enjoy a little more peace and quiet, and have hundreds of KMs of natural beauty right there in your backyard. Wherever you’re headed, we’ll make your move a great one, as you join a fun, close-knit work community with no shortage of friendly faces.

As a midwife, you’re no stranger to the big moments; the life-changers and journey beginnings. So now, take the opportunity to begin your own, and make the best move of your life. Get in touch – we can’t wait for you to join us.

Closing date: Thursday, 11 February 2021.
