Our Purpose: Why we do it

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you’re part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team: What we do

The Canterbury Eye Service at Christchurch Hospital is seeking a registered nurse. The Eye Clinic is a very busy and demanding service that is staffed by a dedicated team of nurses, orthoptists, optometrists and technicians who work closely with our highly skilled and specialised ophthalmologists to meet the eye health needs of the people of Canterbury.

The Role: Where you fit in

As a nurse in the eye clinic, you’ll be responsible for undertaking ophthalmic acuity assessments and providing patient education prior to eye surgery and education regarding ongoing management of their condition. Therefore, experience in ophthalmology is desirable, however a comprehensive orientation will also be provided to the successful applicant.

As nursing roles extend, a registered nurse with the desire to extend their clinical practice and work within a specialised area would be welcomed. Your excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work positively and flexibly in a team environment is essential within this role. The Eye Clinic hours are currently 7:30 am to 6:30pm Monday to Friday, so shifts will be within these hours.
