Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) is currently delivering a five year long, high priority, exciting programme of work. Using an agile framework, we will modernise our technology and revolutionise many of the services we provide to New Zealand and for New Zealanders.

To help make our transformation work successful, we have a position for a savvy, technically sound and passionate  Release Train Engineer  to join us. This Wellington based position is a fantastic opportunity to join our ground-breaking programme.

You will be responsible for facilitating the Agile Release Train (ART) at both a programme level and then for programme execution. As a servant leader and coach for ART, you are also in charge of escalating impediments, managing risk, and helping drive programme level continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be focussed on articulating the overall delivery and implementation of the programme, ensuring mission execution, leading, and facilitating software delivery teams through development and delivery. As an Agile facilitator, you will coach at the portfolio, program, and team levels. A key part of your role is providing guidance in methodology (such as SAFE, Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Kanban and XP) to Agile team members, and you will strongly support teams in architectural runway development and work break-down.

As a member of the Business Transformation Business Group, you will demonstrate your strong commitment to having an agile and continuous improvement focused mindset. You will adapt often and early, will not hesitate to challenge the status quo when needed and will feel comfortable to present your ideas to the wider Programme.

  • Managing and optimising the flow of value
  • Championing, leading, and embedding SAFe
  • Facilitating Programme Increment (PI) planning events
  • Tracking and publishing PI objectives/team progress for visibility and transparency
  • Facilitating Agile ceremonies such as Scrum of Scrums, Inspect & Adapt, System/PI demo
  • Significant experience leading Scrum teams in an agile environment
  • SAFe RTE certification
  • CSM, SA, SAFe Scrum Master certifications or equivalent

    Our Squads are Wellington based, if relocation isn’t a suitable option for you, there may also be the option to base yourself elsewhere if you’re able to frequently travel to Wellington (2-3 days per week, self-funded) to support the team.
