What you will do

The operational environment of our military forces is arguably one of the most rewarding and challenging domains for applied human systems integration research. The opportunity to work with advanced technology and complex systems, in combination with a highly trained workforce, is an attractive work environment for a research scientist. The day to day work is exciting, varied and purposeful.

Effective integration of the human operator is essential to achieving the full potential of modern Defence systems. As part of the Operational Analysis and Human Systems team you will conduct research and experimental analysis in human systems integration to improve performance of New Zealand Defence Systems. The position will involve conducting applied research in support of NZDF research, science and technology (RS&T) requirements in response to NZDF identified priorities. Deliverables will generally be in the form of sound technical advice that enhances the performance, protection and safety of NZDF personnel and directly impacts on NZDF operational capability and military readiness.

What we need

We are seeking a candidate who is qualified in Human Factors/Ergonomics and/or Health Sciences/Psychology. This position includes a strong customer focus; assessing stakeholder requirements, developing and planning new research directions, managing the research activity and delivering exploitable research outcomes.

Day to day you will be liaising with a wide range of stakeholders so it’s important that you are a confident and skilled communicator. You are able to scope, plan and complete project work that results in enhancement of military capability.

Who we are

The Operational Analysis and Human System team are passionate, collaborative, and supportive. We operate within a learning environment.
