The extensive community Hospice services that we provide for people in the greater West Auckland area are second to none. Our services are at no cost to patients and their families and we ensure that care at end of life and those who care for them is the very best we can provide. As a part of the Retail team, we help to raise the money needed to fund these services.

The Opportunity

Ever watched ‘HOARDERS’ and thought I would SOOOOOO love to get in there and sort that all out! Well it’s not quite at that level, but if you have an eye for fashion labels, rare chine and collectables and love to make order out of chaos then Hospice West Auckland has a great opportunity for you to join our Henderson team as a Sorter.

As a Sorter, you are physically fit, able to move stock and stand for long periods of time. You can lift heavy and awkward items utilising safe practices as required. You are able to sort goods efficiently and effectively for stores as per the retail plan, and advise the Store Manager in the first instance of unusual and valuable items.

Communication and honesty are key, and you assist the team day to day whilst providing an outstanding customer service experience to both our valued donors and customers. If this sounds like you, then Hospice West Auckland wants you!

Essential skills and experience for this role include:

  • Excellent customer service skills as you will deal directly with donors
  • A professional, positive, can do attitude
  • Intermediate level IT competency & knowledge of the Microsoft suite
  • Point of Sale (POS) knowledge as may need to help in a store from time to time and willingness to upskill in this area as required
  • Physically fit and able to move stock and stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift heavy and awkward items utilising safe practices if required
  • Understanding of valuable items to maximise income from donated goods
  • Honest and reliable
  • Ability to listen and use feedback constructively
  • Commitment to sustainability through reducing waste
  • Take pride in appearance and performance
  • Days of work will be Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8.45 am – 5.15 pm.
