Due to a shift in the way ACC works, we have embarked on a major multi-year work programme to transform our organisation into one that is truly centred around our customers. Around 20 months ago, the Review Specialist role was breathed into existence to shake up the way that ACC deals with their customers and resolves conflict.

A day in the life of a Review Specialist involves thinking outside the box to create win-win outcomes, discussing resolution possibilities with clients, getting to the core of their conflict with ACC, investigation into the defensibility of decisions and writing submissions and representing ACC in Review Hearings.

We work with most departments within ACC and manage reviews from Branches, Short Term Claim Centres, Cover, Accidental Death, Sensitive Claims, Treatment Assessment Centre (just to name a few). This means that no two days are the same and there is no possibility of being bored.

As a Review Specialist, you will need to be someone who can feel with their heart but think with their head, someone who can lead and educate through conflict and someone with a proven track record of excellent communication leading to great results.

You will need the following to be successful in the role:

  • You have experience in complaints management, dispute resolution or relevant work experience
  • Able to understand policy and legislation as well as ability to explain it in plain English
  • You are great at solving problems and peeling back the layers to find the core of the issue
  • You can build rapport with internal and external clients to build trust
  • Passionate about doing the right thing at the right time
  • Strong time management and able to prioritise multiple demands
  • Energy and confidence to resolve challenges in a positive way
  • Influencing and negotiating to resolve conflicts
  • You may come from a clinical, legal or ACC background
