Description National Sport Organisation Develop and implement the domestic rowing strategy Engage and support the New Zealand rowing community Based at the Lake Karapiro high performance centre Rowing New Zealand (Rowing NZ) is the national sports organisation for all rowing in New Zealand and is responsible for the management and development of the sport through club and community level participation as well as managing the international teams representing New Zealand from the juniors to the successful elite team, including World Championships and Olympic Games. Reporting to the CEO, the Rowing Manager will manage the successful delivery of operational and strategic planning to ensure Rowing NZ has a coordinated and shared purpose for the future generation of rowers and coaches and volunteers. This is a varied and broad role which derives tasks from the Strategic Plan, with the primary focus on the development and implementation of the domestic rowing strategy. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders involved in all aspects of school and domestic rowing in New Zealand, the Rowing Manager will ensure the successful and safe execution of various events and programs across the country. This includes the management and review of Rowing NZ hosted regattas, Race Officials Education Programs, Water Safety, Safeguarding Children, supporting Para-Rowing and the communication of educational materials and other information to the rowing community including clubs, schools, athletes, parents and volunteers. To be considered for this role you will be experienced in the management and delivery of large events and programs including planning, implementation and evaluation, ideally from within a sporting context. You will enjoy variety with the ability to manage competing priorities and activities at once and the commercial nous to plan, coordinate and drive the implementation of projects that are on time, on budget and meet strategic targets. You will be proactive, resilient and flexible, prepared to work hands-on and roll your sleeves up to help the team and get the job done. A proven background in engaging and influencing people is essential, with the communication and presentation skills required to build relationships and elicit cooperation from a diverse range of key stakeholders (internal and external), creating win/win outcomes. Experience in working with sporting clubs and schools and an empathy for volunteers would be an advantage, as would an understanding of the technical elements of rowing and rowing regattas. This role plays an integral role in the success and outcomes of rowing programs and events at all levels, and as such presents a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the ongoing success of rowing throughout New Zealand.
