School Wide Practitioner

Based in Kerikeri or Kaitaia

The Ministry of Education are committed to inclusive practice. We work alongside families and whānau, early childhood educators, schools and kura, and other agencies in order to make a positive difference for children and young people.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) is a whole school approach to improving learner behaviour and achievement. School Wide Practitioners provide training and ongoing coaching to School Wide teams set up within the school. They work with these teams to implement consistent and sustainable behaviour support systems that promote quality teaching and learning.

We are seeking a qualified and experienced specialist to join our school wide team in the Tai Tokerau Region. This position will be based in either the Kaitaia or Kerikeri Ministry of Education office.

Our ideal candidate will have undertaken some post-graduate studies in behaviour management and be an educational psychologist, or hold a degree or diploma in education, special education or other related discipline. Candidates should have proven competence in working with teachers in schools to reduce challenging student behaviours; be confident presenters and facilitators with groups of educators, and demonstrate strong relationship management and influencing skills. A current driver’s licence is essential.
