The Nelson Threats team is looking for a highly experienced person to join the biodiversity team based in Whakutu, Nelson DOC office. This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual. As a Science Technician, work will be focused across the team’s research programmes covering a diverse range of species and ecosystems.


You will have defined responsibilities including the ability to contribute, plan, and support delivery of technical work programmes relating to our team’s research programme into monitoring species and ecosystem responses to biodiversity threats.  


The successful applicant will have

  • Specialist experience/qualifications in ecology.  
  • Strong planning/organisational skills
  • Team player whom can work closely with others to deliver and achieve conservation outcomes across the district.
  • Extensive experience in field-based practical management of flora and fauna or species monitoring.
  • Experience managing a rapidly changing logistical work schedule
