In this role you will be responsible, at the operational level, for the delivery and performance of the Border and Security Assessments function. You and your team will have a pivotal role in managing the national security check system, including border screening, wider national security screening and the provision of assessments and advice to NZ government agencies to ensure national security risks are appropriately identified and managed.
You will manage the day-to-day functioning of your team so you need to be a leader of people not just function – we are looking for a manager who can inspire and motivate their team and who is committed to coaching and development. As you will engage with your customers on a daily basis, within the NZSIS, the broader New Zealand Intelligence Community and key external stakeholders, the ability to build and maintain positive and productive work relationships is essential. To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and ideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
